Booking your Private Hire or Hackney Carriage driving test
To book a taxi test online or over the phone you will need:
- a valid UK driving licence
- a valid debit or credit card for payment (Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Visa Electron, Switch/Maestro and Solo cards are accepted)

You can book a practical test over the phone from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays.
If you press **222 after you have been connected, you will jump the recorded messages and go straight through to the end of the queue.
Booking a test by post
To book a test by post you will need an application form. Application forms are available online or on request from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) booking line. Payment can be made by cheque or postal order, but cash payments are not accepted.
Cancelling or rescheduling a test
You can reschedule or cancel a test online or over the phone. The online service is available from 6.00 am to midnight, seven days a week. Providing you give DSA three clear working days notice you can:
- move or change your appointment
- cancel your appointment
- have a full refund of test fee
If you prefer to phone, DSA call centre agents are available to take your call from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays). Dial 0300 200 1122 and follow the prompts.
