Introduction
This page contains information on the facilities available from this site. This information is available from every page on the Transport Office site. We have also provided information on how to change settings in your browser to make the site easier to read if you are having difficulties. These can be found towards the foot of this page.
How information on the site is organised
This web site contains information on all aspects of the work linked to commercial road businesses undertaken by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency, Driving Standards Agency and the Drvier and Vehicle Licensing Agency. The information on the site is divided into the following sections:

Links to these sections are displayed in the left-hand side navigation column on the main homepage. Links are also displayed in the central area of the homepage, below the introductory text. Clicking on these links will take you directly to the item.
Each section listed above has a homepage with its own banner and colour-scheme and its own list of sub-sections displayed in the left-hand side navigation column.

Breadcrumb link
At the top of each page, underneath the Transport Office banner is the breadcrumb trail. The breadcrumb trail indicates the position of the current page in the topic hierarchy starting with the homepage and including other levels of topic.
For example, if you click on “Lorry and van operators” in the left-hand navigation, the Lorry and Van Operators section homepage is displayed and the breadcrumb trail will display 'Home > Lorry and Van Operators”. If you then click on the link to Lorry Operator Licensing, the Operator Licensing page is displayed and the breadcrumb trail contains 'Home > Lorry and Van Operators> Lorry Operator Licensing”.
You can click on one of the topics listed in the breadcrumb trail to go to the page for that topic.

Other formats
Much of the information on this site appears as standard web pages. Where information is stored in different formats such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint or PDF, then an icon denoting the particular format will appear as part of the link in the navigation. When selected, the content item will open in its native format, within Internet Explorer.

Increasing text size
Some users might find screen text easier to read by increasing the size at which text is displayed. To do this you should simply adjust your browser's settings.
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the View menu, select Text Size and then choose a size from smallest to largest.

Changing colours
Changing the site's background colour can be particularly useful for users who rely on magnification technology as white can produce an uncomfortable glare. It is also possible to change the colour of body text on the site. Both can be achieved by changing preferences in your browser:
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu, select Internet Options, select Accessibility and check the box marked ‘Ignore colours specified on web pages’. Click OK.
Select the Colours button and make changes to text colours in the Colours panel. Click OK.
Commenting on the site
