14-11-06 London Low Emission Zone consultation published

Transport for LondonLinks to another website. (TfL) is now consulting the public and stakeholders on the Scheme Order for the proposed London Low Emission Zone. The consultation will run until February 2nd 2007, with the aim of targeting the heaviest polluting diesel-engine vehicles that enter London. To find out how the proposed LEZ could affect you or to have your say, visit the London Low Emission Zone website run by TfL.

If the Scheme order is confirmed (with or without modifications), a LEZ could potentially be operational in early 2008 for diesel-engine lorries over 12 tonnes, followed by lighter diesel-engine lorries from 3.5 to 12 tonnes, and buses and coaches in summer 2008.

The Vehicle and Operator Services AgencyLinks to another website. can provide information on technical options that are available to achieve compliance to the proposed LEZ and these can be found on the Transport Office website (within the Environmental VED Test section)
