On recording equipment in road transport. This is the core of our current requirements for the fitment and use of tachographs, and the technical specification of the tachograph.

On standard checking procedures for the implementation of Regulation (EEC) No 3820/85 on the harmonisation of certain social legislation relating to road transport and Regulation (EEC) No 3821/85 on recording equipment in road transport. This document details the requirements of member states to carry out checks on compliance of drivers’ hours and the tachograph installations.

This Regulation lays down rules on driving times, breaks and rest periods for drivers engaged in the carriage of goods and passengers by road in order to harmonise the conditions of competition between modes of inland transport, especially with regard to the road sector, and to improve working conditions and road safety. Some of the requirements came into effect on the 1st May 2006, however, the full Regulation came into effect on the 11th April 2007. This regulation supersedes Council Regulation (EEC) No 3820/85.

This Regulation also aims to promote improved monitoring and enforcement practices by Member States and improved working practices on the road and includes the requirements for digital tachographs to be fitted to all vehicles first put into service on or after 1st May 2006.
