Application for ADI extension of registration or re-registration
If your registration expires on or after 1 April 2008 you will need to have a criminal record check before you apply. If your registration expires before that date, you don’t need to obtain a disclosure at this stage. Further information about how you should obtain your check is available on the Criminal Records Check section on this website or on our criminal records information line on 0115 901 2801
If you are an existing ADI and wish to apply for an extension of your registration, you can apply online at
Driving Instructor online services
You may apply to re-register as an ADI within 12 months of the expiry of your previous certificate. If your previous certificate expired more than 12 months ago you will have to re-take the qualifying exams and you should complete the ADI 3, included in the ADI starter pack.
