Vehicle Maintenance FAQs for Operators

Introduction to Test History (Maintenance) Reports

Q. What are Test Maintenance Reports why were they introduced by VOSA?

A. The Test History (Maintenance) Report has been developed in partnership with Manufacturers and Operators. When used proactively it can be used to improve the initial pass rate at Annual Test with some organisations now achieving a 90 per cent pass rate. These organisations claim this has only been possible by using the information contained in the report to improve their training, servicing, repairing and quality regimes.

Q. Why can I not get a Test Maintenance report using my PSV O licence?

A. PSV vehicles are not licence specific, test history reports cannot be produced by operator licence number. However, if the operator has a VOSA prefunded account number where the test fees are drawn from the account, a report can be produced using the account number as the search criteria.

Q. Why is an abandoned test counting towards the total number of failures in the summary of my Test Maintenance Report?

A. An abandoned test is counted as a failure on your test maintenance report. This is because the vehicle has failed to pass the test it has been submitted for.
